Many of our customers have come to us with discs that don't play, asking if there is anything that can be done. The most common issue with these (especially with Mini Discs and DVDs) was, that the discs had been recorded on video/DVD combo recorders or Mini DVD camcorders. These machines would allow start stop recording, so that the discs could be gradually filled up, similar to video tape recording. Once the discs were full, they needed to be finalised. This was the process of closing a disc which added the data files required so that they could be played in other DVD players or computers. Often was the case, that these discs didn't get finalised and were taken out of the recorder and put aside. So without the additional data being added on closure, the discs wouldn't be recognised by anything other than the machine they were recorded on, leaving the data inaccessible.
Using dedicated software, we can search for any data stored on the discs. Once we have access to the contents, we can recover it to the computer. Once this is done, we can recreate the lost movies into new DVDs or into digital files such as MPEG4.
